Through his work in the industry over the past ten years, our Managing Director Saul has appeared in over 30 episodes of the hit BBC1 series “Heir Hunters”.

The programme, which was first screened in 2007, follows a number of companies in our field as they attempt to find the heirs to unclaimed estates before Crown lawfully collects the money.

Here are just a few highlights from some of Saul’s episodes:

Casson: The case of an East End lady who lost her son. After all Saul’s work, will the emergence of the deceased’s will change everything? (July 2009)

Sherry: The case of a Liverpool woman with severe learning difficulties whose mother placed her in care and went on to have a large family, none of whom knew they had an older sister! (February 2010)

Sonntag: In which Saul finds himself in a tattoo parlour, not as a customer, but delivering news to a young lady who lost her father suddenly when she was a child. (February 2010)

Sedgbeer: The case of a Devon lady who was born and died in the same house. Thanks to Saul’s involvement, her ancestors’ derelict cottage on remotest Exmoor is now being restored and repurposed. (March 2011)

Soberg: The case of a nuclear submariner whose estranged daughter spent years trying to find him. Saul battles deep transpennine snow to deliver the emotional news that she was just too late. (April 2012)

Wilkinson: The case of a Cheshire eccentric. A very local case for Saul, with heirs in his childhood village and the revelation of an extra-marital affair between two family members! (August 2018)

In addition, Saul also featured in Episode 2 of the BBC2 series “A House Through Time”, screened in January 2018. This fascinating programme told the stories of the lives of people who all lived in the same Georgian house in Liverpool from the 1840s to the present day. Several residents were Jewish and Saul was able to provide genealogical records and context relating to a Victorian society wedding.

Another series relevant to our work was “The Empty Housing Scandal”, screened on BBC2 in February 2019. This programme highlighted the many reasons why so many houses are how empty in Britain and in what ways they can be brought back into ownership for the thousands who need them.

One of the properties featured formed part of an estate which Saul and the team had worked on. The elderly lady who had lived there had survived in appalling conditions.
